29 NEW ENTRANTS: L.I.T. GROUP MAINTAINS APPRENTICE LEVEL: NO CORONA-RELATED SHORTAGE OF YOUNG TALENT AT THE BRAKE-BASED COMPANY.

With 29 newly hired junior staff, the L.I.T. Group defies the industry-wide negative trend of declining apprentice numbers and, furthermore, maintains the internal record set last year. 17 aspiring freight forwarding and logistics services clerks, six warehouse logistics specialists, three professional drivers, one office management clerk, and one IT specialist for application development and system integration, respectively, begin their training today with the logistics specialist. To protect everyone's health, L.I.T. has taken special precautions in the Corona year.

INTRODUCTION EVENT THIS YEAR DIRECTLY AT THE TRAINING LOCATIONS

»We have managed to maintain the number of new entrants at last year's record level. This confirms our high quality as a training company and makes us very proud,« says Astrid Jonat, Head of Training at L.I.T. AG. Thanks to early selection interviews and contract signings, this year's recruiting for the logistics company was almost complete before the peak phase of the pandemic began in Germany. It is already clear that L.I.T. will continue to offer apprenticeships in 2021 to the same extent as before, regardless of Corona-related cancellations of school internships and training fairs.

Due to the applicable contact restrictions, L.I.T. is, however, foregoing the usual joint welcome at the headquarters in Brake and is providing the apprentices with their introduction directly at their places of deployment. During the first one to two days, the new entrants will get to know each other, the company, the various business areas and their processes, and visit the individual departments. In addition, there will be an initial training on the use of IT systems, a seminar on quality management, and telephone training – all, of course, taking into account the social distancing rules to be observed.

If the situation permits, a training week for the entire year group of all twelve Locations and all six apprenticeship professions is planned again for spring 2021 at the headquarters in Brake. During this workshop, the apprentices can network and will be trained in presentation techniques, internal and external communication, conflict management, cost and performance accounting, and work and time management. At the end of the week, the apprentices will demonstrate their acquired knowledge in a group presentation to the training management and the company board.

As every year, apprentices from the second year of training take on a mentorship for their new colleagues. »A contact person who was in the same situation as our apprentices not too long ago greatly facilitates the young people's entry into professional life,« says Jonat. The junior staff receive generally close support throughout the entire period from the training department and the training officers, with whom they also conduct regular feedback discussions. In the event of exceptionally good performance, not only is an internship at one of L.I.T.'s Locations abroad possible, but subsequent employment within the company is also virtually guaranteed. Numerous sports activities and events such as joint barbecues or 'Kohlfahrten' (cabbage tours) ensure the necessary cohesion among employees. For this exemplary commitment to junior staff training, the IHK Oldenburg awarded the L.I.T. Group the »TOP Training Company« seal of quality after an extensive examination process.
