With effect from March 2021, B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH has taken over the business operations of the insolvent freight forwarder Diedrich Meyer GmbH & Co. KG. Through this acquisition, the joint venture of the Braker L.I.T. Group and the port logistics provider J. MÜLLER Weser GmbH & Co. KG not only saves a traditional Bremen company but also expands its own service portfolio. The bundling of resources in raw coffee port logistics with Transport Logistics and Contract Logistics will enable B-LOG to offer all relevant services from a single source in the future. All employees of Diedrich Meyer freight forwarder will be retained.
»With the joint venture and the acquisition, we are playing the complete keyboard of coffee logistics and pursuing the goal of becoming one of the most important players in the Bremen market,« says Ingo Schreiber, Managing Director of L.I.T. Cargo GmbH and Executive Board Member of L.I.T. AG.
Founded in 1897, Diedrich Meyer freight forwarder specializes in container transports and electric tipping chassis. In the short and long-distance transport sector, these were recently covered by container or bulk goods transports. In addition, the fifth-generation family business in Bremen also offered the storage and unloading of overseas containers or palletized goods in open storage. »The range of services fits B-LOG 100 percent and perfectly complements our portfolio. From now on, we cover all coffee logistics services from a single source,« says Matthias Seidel, Managing Director of B-LOG Bulk Logistik GmbH.
Due to liquidity difficulties caused by revenue declines and payment delays as a result of the Corona pandemic, Diedrich Meyer freight forwarder filed for insolvency in December 2020. The current 22-person staff of Diedrich Meyer freight forwarder will be retained.
