CO2 EMISSIONS REDUCED BY OVER 20 PERCENT!
L.I.T. AWARDED THE LEAN AND GREEN 1st STAR
By participating in the Lean and Green Initiative for green logistics, L.I.T. Speditions GmbH, in cooperation with L.I.T. Cargo GmbH, has successfully reduced the greenhouse gas emissions of its own logistics processes by 20 percent. With the Lean and Green 1st Star, GS1 Germany confirms the effective implementation of the measures and the successful verification of greenhouse gas reduction by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH.
With a range of measures, we have achieved our goal of reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector by 20% within five years. To be precise, it is even 21.3%. Among the biggest efficiency drivers is undoubtedly the expansion of rail transports to almost 2.9 million kilometers per year (6.3%). Other important factors include the reduction of fuel consumption (4.6%), the reduction of empty and detour kilometers (4.5%), and the expansion of the annual mileage of the Ultralight fleet (3.1%). The remaining percentages were achieved through the use of alternative fuels and the deployment of Euro-Combi trucks.THE JOURNEY CONTINUES TO THE 2nd STAR
To achieve 2nd Star certification, the fulfillment of various mandatory criteria is required. The first mandatory criterion involves the implementation of a cooperation or innovation project with a clear reference to logistics. This must be accompanied by CO2 savings of at least 10% relative to the respective project scope. The second mandatory criterion requires the implementation of a social project. In addition, a further 10% reduction in CO2 emissions must be demonstrated, along with a simultaneous expansion of the scope from 50% to 65%.
