FROM DAY ONE FULLY CONNECTED: L.I.T. INTRODUCES INTENSIVE TRAINING WEEK

In addition to training in soft and hard skills, the apprentices' program also included presentations to the management board and evening community events.

To promote young talent even more effectively, the L.I.T. Group is breaking new ground. The company is integrating an intensive training week for career starters into its apprenticeship program. The goal of the new format is for young professionals to gain insights into all business areas of the L.I.T. Group within one week, and for the apprentices to get to know each other across locations and to network more effectively. The program includes, among other things, direct exchange with the management board, as well as learning important soft skills and practical tips for daily work. In addition to workshops, lectures, and project work, professional coaching sessions and team-building events such as a visit to an escape room are on the agenda.

During the training week, our apprentices come into direct contact with the management level.

»Flat hierarchies are not an empty phrase for us. During the training week, our apprentices come into direct contact with the management level, can ask their questions, and contribute suggestions,« says Astrid Jonat, Head of Apprenticeship at L.I.T. AG. The management board of the logistics service provider actively participates in the new concept and presented the young professionals with the individual business areas (Transport Logistics, Contract Logistics, fleet and driver personnel management, Personnel Logistics, as well as the tasks of the staff departments of L.I.T. AG). The apprentices thus gain a holistic insight into the company – including areas they do not come into contact with during their apprenticeship. For Lisa Schau, an apprentice as a forwarding and logistics services clerk, this is a real plus: »I think it is really great that the training week is not purely frontal teaching. Simeon Breuer, Managing Director of L.I.T. Speditions GmbH, for example, was with us outdoors and practically elicited our knowledge in the area of geography/navigation (our Locations). Ingo Schreiber, Managing Director of L.I.T. Cargo GmbH, showed us the individual vehicle types including trailer variants and explained the workshop to us. This is something special and shows the importance that training and we apprentices have at L.I.T.«

Another highlight was the visit to the L.I.T. Logistics Park in the Bremen freight transport center. In the L.I.T. Logistics Center LLC 4, the logistics service provider has installed an AutoStore system. With the support of the AutoStore robots, a large part of the tasks for the E-Commerce sector can be processed efficiently and quickly. Jonat: »Our apprentices were coached from day one by an external training institute and internal specialists.« Topics such as basics of presentation and communication techniques, conflict and time management, as well as cost and performance accounting were on the agenda.

In the subsequent project groups, each supervised by an experienced L.I.T. employee as a mentor, the apprentices independently implemented what they had learned. Topics such as Intermodal Transport, Alternative Drives, and internationalization of driving personnel were addressed. They presented their ideas and solutions for these current challenges at the end of the training week to all participants and the management board – including Fokke Fels, CEO of L.I.T. AG. He emphasizes: »We are enthusiastic about the commitment, creativity, and presentation of the individual groups. The quality of the work is impressive! This cohort has shown what is possible in one week.« During the planned team event in the escape room, this networking happens naturally in a relaxed atmosphere.

Do you want to be there next time? We look forward to seeing you!
