At the headquarters in Brake and via video conference, the new apprentices were welcomed by the Executive Board and into the L.I.T. Group.
With 37 apprentices, the L.I.T. Group has started the new training year with more career starters than ever before. The Executive Board of the North German logistics specialist today welcomed nineteen prospective freight forwarding and logistics services clerks, ten warehouse logistics specialists, three professional drivers, four office management clerks, and one IT specialist for application development on their first day of training. For the first time, the Holzminden location is training office management clerks. The same applies to the Germersheim location, where freight forwarding and logistics services clerks will also be trained in the future. Rinteln is now hiring prospective warehouse logistics specialists.
“Despite the more difficult application and recruitment process during the pandemic, we have succeeded in topping the number of career starters from previous years,” says Astrid Jonat, Training Manager at L.I.T. AG. In addition to the cancellation of training fairs and school visits, the company also had to forgo the usual large selection rounds in Brake and Bremen. Instead, job interviews were conducted via video call at some locations. The selection process therefore took longer than in previous years. “Nevertheless, we were able to recruit promising talents in good time,” Jonat continues. L.I.T. is particularly pleased that more and more women are also interested in becoming professional drivers and warehouse logistics specialists. Two apprentices joined L.I.T. via a six to ten-month entry qualification program.
Today's first working day for the young talents was partly organized by their colleagues from the third year of training. After being welcomed by L.I.T. CEO Fokke Fels and Executive Board members Simeon Breuer, Julian Lachnitt, and Ingo Schreiber at the headquarters in Brake, to which apprentices from other locations were connected, and an introduction to the Corona measures to be observed, the newcomers got to know the corporate group, the individual departments and their processes, and finally each other. Together, they visited the warehouse, inspected the company's own apprentice truck, and had lunch together.

Already on the second day, the career starters will have a training session on the use of IT systems, a seminar on quality management, information and procedures related to training, and telephone training. On the third day, the apprentices will be welcomed by their mentors, who will closely support them over the next two months, and taken to their new workplace.
Training as a vehicle for recruiting skilled workers is becoming increasingly relevant given the industry-wide shortage of personnel, says Jonat. “Therefore, we are very committed to offering young people not only a professional working environment in which they can grow, but also a harmonious coexistence outside of everyday work.” Numerous sports activities and events such as joint barbecues or "Kohlfahrten" (cabbage tours) are also part of L.I.T.'s training plan. For this commitment to junior staff training, the IHK Oldenburg awarded the L.I.T. Group the quality seal “TOP Training Company”.
