Focus on Contract Logistics and Value Added Services

The L.I.T. Group continues its expansion course and extends its presence in the Bremen Freight Village (GVZ) with a state-of-the-art, sustainable logistics property. The new, now fifth, hall spans over 20,000 square meters and will be used primarily for Contract Logistics and Value Added Services. For this purpose, it is equipped with modern AutoStore systems that automatically store and pick items. Furthermore, the property is certified with the Gold status by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), thus optimally aligning with the Group's sustainable growth strategy. This expansion increases the total logistics area of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH in Bremen to over 220,000 square meters.
“With the new logistics property, we can support our customers even more effectively, especially in the areas of spare parts logistics and E-Commerce,” explains Rico von Hollen, Head of Business Development at L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH. From consulting to transport and customs clearance, L.I.T. offers comprehensive and tailor-made logistics solutions and takes over the entire supply chain management for its customers. The Group primarily uses the new facility for Contract Logistics and extensive Value Added Services. The logistics area is leased by LIP INVEST GmbH, a leading investment firm for logistics properties.
The expansion is an important investment in the future: As a flagship property for testing and conceptual automation in intralogistics, the new area will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies such as AutoStore systems and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). “We are using the property as a test field for innovative automation technologies. This enables us to develop tailor-made and future-proof solutions from which our customers benefit,” says von Hollen.
Furthermore, with the fossil-free heating of the new office and social areas, L.I.T. takes another step towards environmentally friendly logistics, thereby underlining its commitment to sustainable business practices. Thimo Schulz, Managing Director of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH, says: “The new property is not only a gain for our logistics capacities but also a clear commitment to our responsibility towards the environment. The DGNB Gold status confirms that we are setting a sustainable milestone here.”
With its location in the Bremen Freight Village, the L.I.T. Group deliberately focuses on regionality, short distances, and close cooperation with local customers, employees, and partners. Thanks to its advantageous connection to all modes of transport – road, rail, air, and water – the new property is ideally suited for multimodal transports. The immediate proximity to a large transshipment station and the direct connection to the North Sea via the twin ports of Bremerhaven and Bremen, in conjunction with the proximity to the international ports of Hamburg and Wilhelmshaven, ensure a smooth flow of international transport chains. “With the service portfolio of the entire L.I.T. Group, our customers can gain real competitive advantages in their respective industries,” says Thimo Schulz.
With the new property, L.I.T. underlines its long-term strategy to position itself as a leading provider of sustainable and innovative logistics solutions.
