Group of companies initiates construction of new location in Bassum.

At the beginning of July, our management of L.I.T. Lager & Logistik GmbH, Thimo Schulz, the Mayor of the City of Bassum, Christian Porsch, and the developer of our Logistics Center in Bassum (LCB), Dr. Jan Miller, gathered for a joint groundbreaking ceremony. A new L.I.T. warehouse location is to be built in the "Vor dem Karrenbruch" industrial park, which will create numerous jobs in the region.
“What we are doing here today is a symbolic groundbreaking. The topsoil is already being removed,” explains Jan Miller. And indeed, the heavy machinery is already at work to construct our new operational facility in the Bassum industrial park.
In a 20,000 square meter hall complex, commercial and industrial goods are to be stored, packed, and repacked. Further transport and distribution will also be handled via the new location. This is expected to create more than 70 new jobs in the commercial and industrial sectors. Approximately 30 million Euros will be invested in the construction. Planning, construction, and project management are handled by PBB Solutions. Earthworks are carried out by Wieting, and the building construction is realized by Goldbeck International from Bielefeld.
A Sustainable Building Concept
The cooperation among all parties involved has been smooth from the outset. This is particularly evident in the rapid approval and construction process of the project. Only 18 months passed between the initial discussions with Mayor Porsch and the first groundbreaking ceremony.
In addition to the competent support from the City of Bassum during the construction of the new location, we are particularly pleased about the sustainable building concept. The facility is to be operated without fossil energy and 100% sustainably through the installation of an approximately 17,000 square meter photovoltaic system on the roof. The Platinum Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council is being pursued.
Before the shovels went into the ground, Mayor Porsch also gave a short speech: “We had made it our mission to offer opportunities in the industrial park to both Bassum companies and new settlers who bring new jobs,” he said. We are delighted about this opportunity to strengthen our regional presence and eagerly await the opening of the new warehouse & logistics location.
