Division expands with two new locations in Hamburg
The air and sea freight sector is booming. This is clearly evident from our business turnover, which has more than quadrupled in the last four years. With the new branches of our L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH in the Hanseatic metropolis, we are positioning ourselves in an ideal location to centrally manage our transport services. This ensures that we can react even more precisely to the high market challenges and at the same time further develop transport services for our customers.
Full freight ahead at the logistics hotspot of the North
The growth surge of Air & Sea is not only reflected in the figures but can now be seen twice in Hamburg. While the 'Sea Freight' department opens its office under the direction of Thomas Behneke at the Elbbrücken, the Air Freight division, with site manager Philipp Penkwitt, moves into its office at the Hamburg Airport Cargo Center (HACC). We now employ 37 colleagues at a total of five branches of our division: in Barcelona, Bremen, Herford, and the Elbe metropolis.
On to the Rails
In the course of the expansion, we have expanded our service portfolio. We not only offer air and sea freight transport services but also, effective immediately, land transport via the Silk Road to and from China. In view of the container congestion at international ports, we are thus creating a real alternative to sea freight, as the train connection transports goods without delay with fast delivery times. The costs have also now almost equalized compared to sea freight.
What does L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH offer?
The division was integrated in 2018 as part of the acquisition of the CLI Group and offers our customers an extensive portfolio: ranging from standard air freight shipments, ad-hoc charter flights, and on-board courier services to dangerous goods deliveries. For this, we rely on our international network of partner freight forwarders in the respective airports and seaports. Our colleagues also take care of additional services such as cargo consolidation, transport insurance, and customs clearance. And now, due to high demand, even more than before, confirms Michael Borowski, our Operations Manager at L.I.T Air & Sea GmbH: „Through the connection to ship, air, and rail transport in Hamburg, we are even better positioned and can optimally fulfill our high order volume.”
